All audio transfers are done in-house; your order will never leave our Albany office. Included in the price of the audio transfer is one output type of your choice, either playable CD or a digital audio file of your choice. MP3 & WAV are the most common audio files requested, but we can also output to other digital audio formats like AIFF & FLAC. For a comparison between the various digital audio formats click here. If you would like to receive more than one type of output, the cost is $10 per additional type.

Our Transfer Process

All audio transfers are done in-house; your order will never leave our Albany, CA office. Included in the price of the audio transfer is one output type of your choice, either playable CD (CD player) or a digital computer file of your choice. MP3 & WAV are the most common digital audio file types requested, but we can also output to other digital audio formats like AIFF & FLAC. For a comparison between the various digital audio formats click here. If you decide you would like to receive two different outputs, then you will be charged an additional $5 per piece of media.

By default, all audio cassette tapes & 1/4" reel to reel tapes will have each side exported as one track. Track separation is possible for music recordings with clear audio gaps between the songs, and for spoken word recordings, we can place track markers every 5 minutes if you like. We can also merge side A & B of a recording for one continuous track.

Commercial CD backup - $1.50 per disc (When you have 20 or more CDs)

Homemade CD backup - $2.50 per disc (when you have 20 or more/under 20 then audio transfer price applied)

Noise/Hiss reduction - $5 per tape/reel

Audio editing - $75 per hr (minimum 30 minutes)

Audio Transfer - FAQ

We can transfer micro-cassette tapes, audio cassette tapes, mini-disc, DAT tapes, 1/4 inch reel to reels that have a diameter of 7/10 inches.
We can output to playable CD (80 minutes) or computer file mp3, wav or AIFF.
Sticky shed syndrome is a common occurrance with audio reel to reel tapes. If your tapes are showing signs of sticky shed syndrome, then we will let you know and suggest “baking” of the reels in order to get the best results from the transfer.
Yes, we can repair the audio cassette tapes, the cost is $15 per tape.
You will not be charged for blank media.
We can create track markers on commercially made audio tapes/reels, and we can do our best to create track markers on live musical recordings that don’t have clear track endings.
Yes, we give back all audio cassette tapes and reels once the project is complete. If you want us to recycle your tapes/reels, then just let us know.
